In the Flood of 2008, the City of Cedar Rapids suffered immense damage to our public facilities.
This includes the historic Veterans Memorial Building, on Mays Island, which housed City Hall and
other government offices as well as an irreplaceable stained glass mural created by Grant Wood.
Our Public Library, recreational facilities and numerous public buildings were damaged in staggering
numbers.
